Bob will be lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses: Carol (Russ) Roome, Weyburn, SK, Ron (Helene) Lukey, Marquette, MI, Janet (Lorne) Ebel, Silton, SK, Simone (Doug) McCosh, Saskatoon, SK, Evan (Sherry) Lukey, Coldstream, BC, Brian (Mahada) Lukey, Pentiction, BC, and Adele (John) Popp, Erickson, MB. Born on May 23, 1930 in Norquay, SK, Bob was raised on a family farm as one of eleven children. He attended high school at St. Joseph's College in Yorkton, than the University of Saskatchewan. He went onto work for Saskatchewan Government Telephones. In 1952, he moved to Weyburn to work as a Public Health Inspector. The following year he joined the Knights of Columbus and met his wife, Gertrude (Gert) Ottenbreit. He proposed in January 1954 and they married later that year. Bob was a man of strong faith with traditional values. He was community-minded, hardworking, generous and optimistic. When he thought about buying a photography business, his father thought it was a bad idea. Bob persevered with hard work and passion, and he was able to fulfill his goal of owning a successful business. Bob and Gert purchased Charnell Studio ( Weyburn) in 1960 while raising their first four children. Bob worked there in his spare time, after hours from his regular job, and on Saturdays. After three years, he began working at the studio full time. He took daily breaks to socialize with friends at local coffee spots, swap a story or two, and share his sweet sense of humour. Bob and Gert's family grew to seven children. Bob had a dream of farming and purchased 800 acres of farm land to grow wheat and barley. In 1977 he moved his family to the farm. Bob and Gert retired in Weyburn to a new house they built. From there they traveled the world: Australia to Costa Rica, New York to the Ukraine, China to Brazil and beyond. In 2013, Gert passed away, Bob continued to his devotion to the church. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and held every position from Scribe to Grand Knight.
