  • Notes
    • With heavy hearts, but a lifetime of precious moments, the family of the late Bonnie Guliak announce the passing of their beloved husband, dad and grandfather. Surrounded by family, Bonnie passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the age of 83 years.
Ben ‘Bonnie’ Guliak was born March 18, 1937, to John and Elsie (nee Ochitwa) Guliak, in the Norquay District, SK. He attended and received his education from Westerland School. During his youth, he helped on the farm with the crops, raised cattle and was an avid horseman. He also worked for Kowal Bros garage, as a mechanic.
In 1965, Bonnie was united in marriage to Ophelia Zawislak. Together, they were blessed with and raised four daughters: Kimberly, Lisa, Shauna and Shelby.
In his younger years, in his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, playing cards and going to Bingo. He was always selling tickets for the different organizations in town.
For many years and until his retirement, Bonnie worked for the Town of Norquay and accepted the position of Town Foreman. Additionally, he dedicated his time as a volunteer fire fighter. After his retirement, he helped at Galay's and Corner Gas.
Bonnie was known by everyone. He had friends - young and old - from Norquay and many surrounding areas. His passion was people. He would chat with anyone and everyone. Thus, he greatly enjoyed his daily coffee and visit with friends at Corner Gas and The Whistle Stop.
Known for his charismatic personality, his ability to befriend and communicate with anyone, and the way he made people feel comfortable around him, Bonnie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. May anyone who was a part of Bonnie’s life consider themselves an honourary pall bearer and go forth carrying on his friendly natured legacy.
Bonnie was predeceased by his parents, John and Elsie; his brother, Steve; and parents-in-law, Frank and Lena Zawislak.
He is survived by his wife, Ophelia; daughters: Kim (Greg), Lisa, Shauna (Dan), and Shelby; grandchildren: Dasha Guliak, Kane Charnstrom, and Wyatt Maclean; and his sister, Doreen; as well as his extended family and many friends.
The Guliak family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Kamsack Hospital and 3E Unit at the Regina General Hospital.
A Private Family Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Norquay, SK, with Rev. Fr. Michal Pajak, OMI, as Celebrant. Committal will take place at a later date. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Lung Association or to the a Local S.P.C.A.. as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Bonnie Guliak.
