  • Notes
    • It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Byron Tataryn on Tuesday, January 19th at the age of 40 years at the Red Deer Regional Hospital with his mother by his side. Born in Calgary, Alberta to Wanda Tataryn, Byron spent his formative years in Calgary, Alberta. Byron did not enjoy school at all until high school when he got involved in the High School Rodeo circuit. Of all things he had to pick bull riding as his major with a minor in bareback! Oh boy, Mom didn’t think her heart was going to survive watching Byron’s rides, but she was proud that he had found something that made him so happy. In early adulthood, Byron’s health deteriorated first with a diagnosis of schizophrenia and then shortly after with a multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Byron enjoyed painting and sketching. His drawings will hang on our walls to remind us of him every day. Since 2015, Byron had resided at the Centennial Centre in Ponoka, Alberta. His one constant complaint was the hideous flooring colour on the Paragon Unit.

Byron had a dream of one day riding his own Harley Davidson motorcycle, but this was not realized with his physical limitations. Once the gates are opened for you Byron, RUN through them, your legs are working now! All the Babas will be lined up waiting for you to give you Baba kisses. I am sure that Baba Demchuk has already purchased a Harley and has it waiting for you. Jump on that bike and RIDE my son, ride!

He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his heartbroken mother, Wanda Tataryn; stepfather, Richard Buors; brother, Dion Buors; grandmother, Judith Demchuk; uncle, Robert Tataryn; great-aunt Leanne Demchuk; and great-uncle Eldon Demchuk. Also left to mourn his loss is his large extended family, the Filipowich, Tataryn, Shykitka and Demchuk families.

Byron was predeceased by his grandfather, Augustine Tataryn; great-grandparents Eugene and Marina Demchuk; Fred and Lily Tataryn; and his great-great grandmothers, Magdalena Filipowich and Theresa Shykitka.
