    • ALDRED-Ernest William, aged 85 of Watrous, SK passed away at Manitou Lodge, Watrous, SK on Monday, January 30th, 2006. Ernest Aldred was born at Summerberry, SK in 1920. His family lived on a number of different farms while he was growing up including Tinley, Cuthbert, Carsbeach and Govan. Ernie joined the Air Force in 1941 and was based at Cold Harbour on the north end of Vancouver Island until 1945. He bought a farm at Govan and married Marjorie Dunlop in 1947. Along with the farm he started driving school bus in 1959 and drove for 22 years. Ernie and Marjorie had a family of 3 boys: Russell (Kathy) of Saskatoon, Gordon of Govan and Jeffrey (Marla) of Regina, and 2 girls: Karen (Herb) Gatzke of Watrous and Myrna (Kirk) Head of Edam as well as 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Ernie was active in the local Odd Fellows, Legion and Rebecca's. Both he and his wife played ball and Ernie enjoyed competitive curling in the winter. They also enjoyed dances and playing cards. Marjorie passed away in 1987. Ernie moved to Manitou Lodge in December 2003 and enjoyed a friendly game of crib. T he Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 4th in the Govan Town Hall at 3:00 p.m. with interment to follow in the Govan Cemetery. For those so wishing donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Charity of Choice. Fotheringham McDougall Funeral Service of Watrous & Nokomis in care of arrangements.
