Notes - Wolkowski, Annie - August 12, 1921 - July 30, 2012, aged 90 years passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. Annie was born on the family farm, in the Rama district, to John and Julia Yacyshyn (nee Muszyj). As a young girl, Annie, attended Rama School. On November 7, 1943, she married Willie Wolkowski at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rama. They were blessed with four daughters. Together, they purchased a business from Harry Tretiak along the old #5 highway. In 1956, they built a new service station and grocery store in Rama, along the new #5 highway. There, Annie worked managing the grocery part of the business, while Willie took care of the service station. They ran their business until Willie’s passing in 1987, where she then moved into a house in Rama where she resided until her passing. While living in Rama, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, bingo, spending time with her family and friends and the Rama Golden Jets. All who knew her and loved her will dearly miss her.
Left to mourn her passing her daughters; Hazel Zawerucha, Christine (Raymond) Dyky, Colleen (Ron) Kostiuk, one son-in-law; Danny Brooks, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters; Zoni Sliva, Elsie Mack, two brothers; Ray (Isabel) Yacyshyn, Tony (Shirley) Yacyshyn, one sister-in-law; Helga Yacyshyn and by numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Willie; one daughter; Marcella Brooks, two grandsons; Sheldon and Sherwin Dyky, six sisters; Mary Madarash, Lena Kuchylema, Olga Sliva, Stella Kunka, Helen Radawetz, Katie Yacyshyn, two brothers; Zeno and Bill Yacyshyn, one son-in-law; Walter Zawerucha.
Mass of Christian Burial was held August 4, 2012 from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Rama with Fr. Marcin Mironiuk, O.M.I. officiating. Interment followed beside her husband, at the parish cemetery, Rama District. For more information, please visit Wolkowski.ca
