    Obituary
    Kindratsky, Anton (Tony)
    September 27, 1921 – August 13, 2013
Anton (Tony) Kindratsky was born in Norquay, Saskatchewan on September 27, 1921. He was the third of ten children born to Joe Kindratsky and Annie Stusick. Pre-deceased by his sisters, Mary (Rewakowsky), Jean (Bracken) and brothers, John and Ed, Tony is mourned by his children Valerie (Tim) Barker, David (Janice), both of Port Alberni; Christopher (Florentine Strzelczyk) of Calgary; and Jean (Mike Peredo) of Vancouver. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Melissa, Joe, Jennifer (Matthew Stevenson), Jess, Amy, Nick, Sky, and Reia as well as his great-grandchildren Bronson, Edmund and Mackenzie. He is survived by his sisters Ellie (Kilmister) & Evelyn (Banks) of Kamsack, SK and Vicky (Tanton) of Stenen, SK, and brothers Victor (Abbotsford, BC) and Nestor (Yorkton, SK).

As a young man, he worked on his father's farm near Stenen and spent winters logging in the Ontario bush with his brothers. Tony joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 and served overseas on the HCMS Loch Achenault. After the war, Tony returned to Saskatchewan. On November 8, 1952, he married Kathryn (Kay) Kardynal in Stenen. He bought the family farm just north of town and farmed there until 1967. His four children were born during these years.

Tony moved west with his brother John in 1967, and worked at the APD Sawmill until his retirement. Many of these years were spent 'chasing whistles' as a millwright. Tony could fix anything. In December 1970, his family moved into the house that he built himself between shift-work and sleep. He spent many hours nurturing his garden.
After retirement, Tony and Kay spent many enjoyable summers at Rathtrevor Beach with their grandchildren and in later years, enjoyed visits from grandchildren coming in from out of town.
After Kay passed away from cancer in 2003, Tony remained on his own at home. He became an expert pie maker and created a number of family favorite dishes, such as 'Bachelor Potatoes'. Despite bypass surgery, diminished eyesight and a stroke, he persevered and continued to garden. His strawberry patch was well loved. A stroke in November 2011 led to his move to Fir Park Village in April 2012. On August 13th, 2013 at 10:30 am, he passed away peacefully. He was 91 years old.
The family wishes to thank: Tony’s neighbours, Doug & Pat and Marc & Laurie, who looked out for him in his years at home; the volunteers at Meals on Wheels for assisting Tony in remaining independent and at home; the CNIB which provided audio books and equipment that allowed Tony to continue ‘reading’ about the world; the staff at West Coast General Hospital who cared for him during a number of visits; and the staff at Fir Park Village for their care and consideration, both during the past year and a half and particularly in the week before Tony’s passing. Being in his Fir Park 'home' was a great comfort to Tony and his family.
For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

An informal tea will be held at Yates Funeral Home - 4470 Gertrude Street, Port Alberni, BC from noon until 2pm on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

    Edward Kindratsky
    November 15, 1923 - March 12, 2013

Edward Kindratsky of Kamsack and formerly of Stenen passed away on March 12th, 2013, at the Kamsack Hospital, at the age of 89 years. Ed was born on November 15th, 1923, the fifth child to Joe and Anne (Stusick) Kindratsky in the Mohyla District. His early childhood was spent in the Mohyla district until 1936, when the family moved to the Stenen District. Ed quit school upon completion of grade eight and wanted to go farming with horses. Horses were his passion. He had a horse named Scout which he rode and had him trained that he could stand up on his backside. Ed went working in bush camps for the winter and farmed in the summertime. In the spring of 1947, he bought a quarter of land and cleared it. In 1950, he built his house on the farm and in November of 1951, he married Anne Bazansky and together they farmed and raised cattle, pigs and chickens. After many years of hard work, he sold the farm and moved to Stenen. Ed was an avid curler, enjoyed fishing, and playing cards. As well, he was on Town Council in the Village of Stenen for six years and belonged to the Senior Citizens in Stenen. After retiring, he took up golfing. During their time together, Ed and Anne travelled to Ontario, B.C., Alaska, Texas and Hawaii in addition to their many fishing trips. In July of 2002, Anne passed away. Ed continued to golf and people at Crystal Lake said you could set you clock by Ed; he was on the golf course at 7:00 a.m. every morning. Ed enjoyed his nieces and nephews and was always interested in what they were doing. Living in Stenen, he was very close to his sister Vickys children. He often helped his brother Nestor harvest his crop in the fall. In 2011, he moved to Kamsack and resided at the Eaglestone Lodge private care home until his passing. He will be dearly missed by all. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Anne; his wife, Anne; his brothers: Stanley in infancy and John; his sisters: Mary Rewakowsky and Jean Bracken; his brothers-in-law: Paul Rewakowsky, Ron Tanton, Lawrence Kilmister and Jack Banks; his sisters-in-law: Alyne Kindratsky and Kay Kindratsky and his godchild James Tanton. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers: Tony of Port Alberni B.C., Victor of Abbotsford, B.C. and Nestor (Ilona) of Yorkton, SK; his sisters: Ellie Kilmister of Kamsack, Vicky Tanton of Stenen and Evelyn Banks of Kamsack; his sister-in-law Mary Kindratsky of Aldergrove, B.C.; his brother-in-law Jim Bracken of Winnipeg, MB and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Liturgy was celebrated on Friday March 15th, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Lesons Funeral Home, Canora, with Rev. Fr. Brian Meredith officiating. The Rite of Committal followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, in memory of Edward Kindratsky.

  6. 7.  Victor Z. KindratskyVictor Z. Kindratsky Descendancy chart to this point (1.Joe1) was born on 21 Feb 1928 in Mohela, Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 5 Jan 2021 in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

    Notes:

Victor Z. Kindratsky passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021 in Abbotsford, BC with all 3 of his children present, at the age of 92.
He was born on the family homestead in Saskatchewan, Section 3, Township 32, Range 3, W2nd, near Mohela on February 21, 1928. In 1947, when there was a shortage of school teachers in Saskatchewan, he went to Moose Jaw Normal School (Teacher’s Collage) and got his teaching certificate. After 1 year though, he decided teaching wasn’t for him. He also worked his way up to Manager at the Monarch Lumber Co. in Canora, SK, but left when he was accepted to school for Radio Operator in Vancouver, BC with the Federal Dept of Transport.

Victor had many adventures while working as a Radio Operator up North in places such as Snag, YK, and North of Resolute Bay, NWT. It was here that he discovered his love for curling and participated in many Bonspeils in Whitehorse, Dawson City and Fairbanks, Alaska to name a few. His work with Transport Canada had him and his family transferred to Gander, Nfld, and then across the country to Abbotsford, BC where he settled for the last 47 years.

He married Alyne Bowzowsky in 1967 and was married for 35 years until her passing in 2002. After a long career in Management with Transport Canada, Vic retired in 1989 with the goal of being retired for the same length of time as he had worked with them. Dad loved telling a good story, curling, golfing, working with wood and making many wonderful pieces, cooking, and baking for his kids and grandkids, and travelling back to the prairies to visit family. He also loved playing cards (65) and taking on family and friends in Crib for $1.

Victor is survived by his sisters Ellie Kilmister, Vicky Tanton, Evelyn Banks, brother Nestor Kindratsky, and sister-in-law Sandra Pollard. He leaves his children, son Kerry (Jana), daughter Marla (Bruce) and son Daryl (Christina) as well as grandchildren Michael, Caitlin (Sam), Kiera and Zac and one great-grandchild, Niko. He is also remembered by many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Everyone is asked to celebrate Dad’s life in their own way but raising a glass of their favourite drink in his memory would be quite appropriate.

A donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in lieu of flowers

    Nestor Lawrence Kindratsky
    1939 ~ 2023 (age 83)
    Obituary
It is with deepest sadness that the family of Nestor Kindratsky announce his passing on January 10, 2023, after a brief illness at the age of 83. Nestor Lawrence Kindratsky was born on August 11, 1939, in Canora, Saskatchewan to Joe and Anna (Stusick) Kindratsky. He was the youngest of their eleven children, given the nickname “Pappy” by his oldest brother John. Nestor grew up on the farm north of Stenen and in Canora. After deciding that school was not for him, he worked driving truck for Kay’s Limited, Ball Cartage and A&S Transport before starting at CNR in Melville where he worked for almost 30 years. He was the original commuter, driving daily between Yorkton and Melville. Nestor also enjoyed being a weekend farmer on the Lozinski home quarter. Following his retirement in 1999, Nestor found a part-time job shuttling vehicles for Yorkton Key Chev Olds and Yorkton Toyota. He enjoyed these trips, especially those with Art Gazdewich. After making these trips for over 20 years, he retired again. Nestor had a daily routine of going for coffee first thing in the morning to Sweet Wanders, then coming home to classic T.V. shows and movies with the family dog Boots.

On October 9, 1966, Nestor married Ilona Lozinski at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church. Together, they had three children Karen, Lorie and Robert. As a family, they enjoyed many camping and fishing trips as well as lots of trips out to British Columbia to visit family. In 2005, they were blessed with the first of three granddaughters, Julia followed by Jessica in 2006 and Jenna in 2011. Nestor loved to take in all the activities his granddaughters participated in like curling, dance, flag football and soccer.

Nestor would often reminisce about his childhood (burning down the pigpen), his days curling in the Stenen Bonspiel, goose hunting with his cousin, partridge hunting with his brother Ed and son, and fishing at Deschambault Lake, Madge Lake, and Sturgeon Landing. He liked to farm with his son, driving a tractor or combine until the summer of 2022 and supervising from the lawn chair in the shop. Nestor loved to get together with family playing cards 65, rummy, and cribbage. Nestor enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends through regular phone calls, coffee socializing, family gatherings, especially the family reunion in 2022 and the July 1st pancake breakfast in Stenen.

Nestor and Ilona were married for 48 years before Ilona passed away in 2014. Nestor is also predeceased by his parents Joe and Anna Kindratsky; in-laws William and Nellie Lozinski; siblings and their spouses Mary (Paul) Rewakowsky, John (Mary-Anne), Stanley, Tony (Kay), Edward (Anne), Victor (Alyne), Jean (Jim) Bracken as well as brothers-in-law Lawrence Kilmister, Ron Tanton and Jack Banks. He leaves to treasure his memory daughters Karen and Lorie, son Robert (Janel), granddaughters Julia, Jessica and Jenna, sisters Ellie, Vicky and Evelyn as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
